Picture this, a paradise in your backyard: It has the bluest river that streams from a waterfall. There are trees that grow mangos, avocados, papayas, oranges (just to name a few). Imagine waking up to that beautiful and breathtaking view anytime, any day. The people in El Meco, San Luis Potosi have exactly that!
Last week I was vacationing with my family in this small town. It's incredible how places like this are hidden. It was hidden until 2007 when Televisa filmed a scene of a soap opera called "Destilando Amor" which was named "The Best Telenovela of the Year". The rivers and the waterfalls became popular and tourist began to pour in. Why wouldn't they? Its a perfect place to relax, to see nature, have fun and is definitely something different than the over packed Mexico beaches. If that's what you are looking for, then you should definitely visit El Meco.
Aventura Express will take you on an adventure that will leave you speechless as they take you for a ride on the river. Make sure you take in the view in front of you after the hike you will take and see the mountains surrounding you. Don't forget to try all the delicious fruits that grow in the town.
The day started with getting on a small boat. We saw the blue river and it was amazing seeing how blue it is like if it was dyed but trust me, it is not. The river streams from a waterfall, which we were able to see really closely. So close we could feel the mist.
After taking some time to really enjoy the view and swim for a bit close to the waterfall we had the opportunity to jump off a small cliff. It was a practice round, since you will have the opportunity/choice to do 3 jumps by the waterfall.
After the practice jumps we headed out for a great hike. Make sure you take shoes that are fit for walking/hiking and you don't mind getting them wet. The trees were so tall and beautiful. Many wonderful fruits grow here.
Finally, we got to the end of our hike - on the top of the waterfall. The view will leave you speechless.
The day will be filled with activities, boat rides, tubing, and waterfall jumps. The best part is that it is a great experience for family and friends to share this adventure together! Its safe and fit for all ages.
This summer or anytime of the year, take some time off and head out to one of the most beautiful places in Mexico. If you are not convinced yet, maybe the pictures I took during my visit there will convince you!
Make sure you take a look to the rest of the amazing pictures we took that day in the slideshow below:
